Central Jersey Motorcyclist, 19, Killed In Old Bridge Collision

A 19-year-old motorcyclist from Monmouth County died after his motorcycle struck a car at Route 18 and Ferry Road in Old Bridge late Wednesday, authorities said.

Police identified the victim as John Flanagan of Aberdeen.

At about 11 p.m. Wednesday, a black Yamaha motorcycle driven by Flanagan was traveling northbound on Route 18 when he failed to stop for a red traffic light at Ferry Road, Old Bridge police said in a statement.

The motorcycle struck a black Lexus that was turning left from Route 18 southbound onto Ferry Road, police said.

Flangan was taken to Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge where he later died from his injuries, police said.

The driver of the Lexus suffered minor bruises and cuts from broken glass, police said.

The Old Bridge Police Fatal Accident Unit is conducting an investigation.
